In 1974 I dropped by a friend's house in Kingsburg, California where I graduated from High School. His name was Greg Crass.  To this day, he doesn't know what a profound effect he was about to have on my life.  He said he didn't have time to talk right now because he was on his way to an Amway meeting.  Well, I was 19, just married and didn't have a clue what he was talking about.  So I asked "what's Amway and why are you meeting about it?"  He told me it was an opportunity to be in business for myself.  Even at 19, I knew I wanted that!

So we're at this meeting and some guy is drawing circles on a whiteboard and I understand NOTHING!  After the meeting was over, my friend went out into the garage with his "Direct Distributor."  Man this guy had a three-car garage with shelves on all three walls stocked full of household products!  You see, I grew up with my dad owning a grocery store.  What I saw in Amway was an opportunity to own my own store and make my dad proud of me.

So I began my journey into the world of network marketing.  It hasn't all been easy, but it has always fascinated me.  While Greg left the business about two weeks later, it's been a 30 year love affair for me.  While I didn't stay with Amway for more than four years, I'll always be grateful for my first exposure to the business.  Network marketing is a wonderful business, I recommend it highly!
