The Art Of War For MLM - Part 2

Hold your opportunity meetings at night.  Successful MLM is not only event management, it is energy management.  Attack your business as if it is a social event, because it is.  Attack your business as if it is fun and exciting, because it is.  Attack when your prospects are at the time of least resistance, because this leads to victory.

Sun Tzu – “Morning energy is keen, midday energy recedes – therefore those skilled in use of arms avoid the keen energy and strike the slumping and receding.  These are those who master energy.”

Plan for long-term success.  Be calm and methodic while working your plan.  Manage and develop your energy.  The MLM war is not won over night, it isn’t a single battle brought on by reaction to unfolding events.  Long-term success is won through patience and mastery of your craft.  Long-term success is won through execution of a well thought out plan.  Long-term success is won at the expense of your competitions shortsighted approach to their business.

Sun Tzu – “Any weakling in the world will fight in a minute if he gets excited, but when it comes to actually taking up arms and seeking to do battle, this is being possessed by energy – when this energy wanes they will stop, get frightened, and feel regret.”

You must master the art of remaining calm and open to change.  Capable warriors who are incapable of adaptation often lose battles.  How you won yesterday may not be how you will be able to win tomorrow. Look at each battlefield with fresh eyes.  Look at each culture with fresh eyes.  Become a student of the objective and adapt to the changing environment.  Your ability to change and adapt as you move from one area of the world to the next means everything to your long-term success.

Sun Tzu – “Unless your heart is wide open and your mind is orderly, you cannot be expected to be able to adapt responsively without limit, dealing with events unerringly, facing great difficulties without upset, calmly handling everything without confusion.”

Always assess your next conquest.  Know the territory inside out.  Know what weapons and supplies you will need.  Don’t attack until you are fully ready to win.  Ideas are not assets.  Genius does not act in haste.  Being first is rarely synonymous with being victorious.

Sun Tzu – “Act after having made assessments.  The one who first knows the measure of far and near wins – this is the rule of armed struggle.  (Far and near means travel - Fatigue, hunger and cold arise from travel)  The first to move is the guest; the last to move is the host.  The guest has it hard, the host has it easy.”

Building an empire is not for the faint of heart, however, you can never do it if you don’t understand what it takes when you set out to get it done.  As in the game of life, winning in MLM takes strategy, I often look to the master strategist, Sun Tzu, the author of The Art of War, for inspiration and guidance.   Sun Tzu was a brilliant general who lived in China over 2000 years ago.   I will be writing more about MLM strategies and Sun Tzu over the next few months in Greg’s MLM Success Tips Newsletter and speaking more in depth on the subject on the ship at Greg's MLM Success Tips Seminar At Sea in November 2004.
