Show Your Prospect The BIG Picture!
by Tom Chenault
As a network marketer who has
been around the industry for many years, I have tried just about every
angle and idea in the book in an effort to say just the right thing to
a prospect during those crucial opening minutes of the
conversation. So far what works the best for me is the truth! Tell
it like it is!
I don’t care if you are
recruiting a white collar professional or the milk man, I can promise
you that they read the newspaper and that they think about their
future. My conversation with them is now about a plan for their
future. A way to build a residual income equal to or greater than the
money they are making in their current job. My talk comes right out
of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” and I use those premises to substantiate my
story. I tell them they can make additional income in network
marketing but not to spend it on toys and extravagant things. I tell
them to buy income producing real estate and tax lien certificates. I
tell them that this is their insurance policy against downsizing,
illness or any other catastrophe that might befall them.
By the time that conversation
is over, we have gone from talking about this scary thing called
network marketing to a new conversation about Multiple Streams of
Income and how this network marketing opportunity is simply the
catalyst for making that happen. I show them the “end of the
rainbow”…that they can have retirement money, a great lifestyle and
fun. But the most important part is that it shows them that they have
to start now! By using this opening conversation, they are more than
ready to hear what I have to say about my opportunity, in fact they
are almost begging me to tell them so they can get started. By
using the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” book or any of Robert Kiyosaki’s books
or tapes as third party credibility, I can get them into a mode right
away that has them following their business plan for financial
success.
Our market has changed. We
are in an incredible time in network marketing but with the internet
and communication moving as fast as it does, our prospects are far
more sophisticated than ever before. They can know all about our
company and the competition in a matter of minutes. It is important
that we have a plan for them to go by that keeps them in the game with
us and not running to the next and the next “great idea”. I have
succeeded in this by showing them a plan for their lives rather than
an opportunity. So far it has worked very well, and it is easy to
duplicate. Our business runs better when we have a game plan and are
executing with long term goals and commitment in mind. When we are
focused on today but have what we want in life in clear sight, it
becomes easy to get out of bed and work our networking business.
So my first homework
assignment to anyone serious about network marketing is to read some
of Robert Kiyosaki’s books. He totally reinforces everything I had
said in the prospecting conversation and then it is just a matter of
executing their personal business plan. Everyone is interested in
Multiple Streams of Income, its our job to powerfully explain how they
can have it!
