Internet Marketing
By Greg Arnold
You just spent two hours
learning how to use your “easy to use” web page builder. You found all
the fancy gadgets it has to offer and you’ve used every one of them.
For good measure you’ve thrown in a couple googly-eyed animations to
attract attention. Now you’re ready to become wealthy as an internet
marketer.
You excitedly send all your
friends to your site, knowing they will praise your web mastery and
sign-up for your program. One by one they look it over and DON'T
call you. The next day you call them. If they have caller-ID, they
don’t answer the phone. If not, they, in the kindest way possible
tell you they just aren’t interested. You ask them what they thought
of the website....“Did I like the website? Aghhhhmmmm, well,…..YES
HUN, I'LL Be RIGHT THERE…..I’ve got to go, I’ll talk to you later
(I've got to get caller-ID installed).”
This happened to me too. We
all go through this. It only took me two years from there to get to
the stage were I understood what I wanted from the Internet, and then
two more to learn how to get it. In this Greg’s MLM Tips Newsletter,
I am going to help you shorten that journey. Here are a couple things
to consider when venturing into web MLM marketing.
- While you can hire people
to build a pretty good looking web page for you for fairly low
dollars ($200 or less), chances are, because they don’t know flip
about MLM, your page won’t sell anything.
- 60% of the web pages on the
Internet aren’t indexed in any search engines. Of the ones that
are, 99.999% of them aren’t indexed high enough to bring in any
business.
Knowing these two things in
advance can save you a lot of time. Most would-be Internet marketers
never really get beyond these two things. If you successfully build
or have built a site that sells and then manage to get it listed in
the top 30 (better yet the top 10) listings on Google, you are going
to become a successful online marketer. Google,
www.google.com controls over 35% of the total search traffic in
the world with over 250 million searches a day. Many top search
engines use rules similar enough to Google's that a high ranking on
Google will also mean high rankings elsewhere.
SO here is the first thing you
must do. Learn to build professional looking web pages or find a web
builder you can work very closely with so the content of your pages
will effectively sell your products and opportunity. There are many
online classes you can take and many websites out there that can give
you great tips. I know this may look like a huge task, and it is.
However, if you want to be really good, you must pay the price. That
price will either involve your time or your money.
The second thing you must do
is learn to play by Google’s rules better than your competitors.
Believe me this is the best advice I have given you so far or will
give you in the rest of this article. I have pages of my own and that
I have build for others that control as many as 7 out of the first 10
spots on Google in the keywords we targeted. These sites bring in a
steady stream of highly motivated and interested prospects every day.
Most offers I have seen on the Internet that promise you high search
rankings, simply don’t deliver. If you spend the time to learn how to
play by the rules better than your competitors, you will win the
search race most of the time.
Third, once you have built a
professional page that sells and you have it ranked where you want on
Google, start building feeder sites. What do I mean by this? Feeder
sites are websites that are industry related that you put up as a
service to your fellow networkers. These sites also bring a
steady stream of traffic to your main site. A feeder site may be a
leads generation site that anyone can use but it carries ads and links
back to your main site. It might be a top ten listings site that, of
course, lists your opportunity as the #1 rated opportunity. It might
be a safelist site, or a classified ads site or many other
possibilities. If you use your imagination you can come up with
lots of ideas for feeder sites to increase traffic to your main site.
Yes you may have to invest in some software and programmer time.
Fourth, develop your own
newsletter. Newsletters build your name on the internet, and they
build sales for you over time. Again, you may have to develop some
writing skills. Do it! This isn’t a game of instant wealth and
success. This is a business that you get better at over time.
Newsletters with thousands of subscribers dramatically effect your
bottom line. The more industry serving they are, the greater your
subscriber list will be. Again all this takes time, but it is worth
it.
Last but not least….Start now,
don’t wait until next Thursday or next year to start getting better.
If it takes you four years to learn how to be an effective Internet
marketer, just do it. There are millions and millions of new people
joining the Internet each year. So what if it takes you some time to
learn to be great. I am writing to tell you, it is worth the effort.
You can earn hundreds of thousands of dollars over he rest of your
life by learning these skills. You don’t have to go back to college
to learn them, but you do have to become a student of the Internet.
Is there more to learn after this? Yes there is, but start with the
basics. As you gain experience, many more wonderful and profitable
things will be revealed to you.
